Designing a Surface Pattern Inspired by Tresco Abbey Gardens

The idea for this pattern began last summer when I spent the day exploring Tresco Abbey Garden in the sunshine. I loved the way that the plants grew from the walls, bursting out from between the stones.
I created a collection of mixed media paintings based on the garden in January and felt that these two were part of the same and could be joined into a repeating pattern.
The pattern making process involves splitting the paper into four pieces that can be switched around to create the seamless flow between the edges. I used a continuous line (with my favourite pen from Tom's Studio) before thickening lines ink with and acrylic paint.
This illustrated pattern is available for licensing - I'd love to see it on stationery, fabric or homeware products.
